Caring for your toothbrush is not hard, but it is important. Your toothbrush needs to be clean, soft, and functional before it can do its job. Let’s look at how to take care of your toothbrush.

Make sure to replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months, even if the bristles look “fine.” It is a breeding ground for bacteria and other germs, and replacing it every 3-4 months keeps your mouth clean. Replace the brush earlier if the bristles look frayed or worn, or if your brush gets contaminated.

When you replace your toothbrush, look for a brush with the ADA Seal of Acceptance on the label. This will guarantee you a quality product. The ADA Seal of Acceptance has been ensuring the effectiveness and safety of products since its inception in 1931.

Choose a toothbrush with soft bristles, that is the right size for your mouth, in a style you like. This will do a few things–the soft bristles will prevent your gums and tooth enamel from being scraped up by your toothbrush. Getting a toothbrush the right size for your mouth will increase your comfort level and the effectiveness of the cleaning, and getting the brush in a style you like will help you be happy about brushing your teeth.
